Adventures in Labor and Delivery

Well if this is going to be my "journal" I guess it would be a good idea to share an embarassing story that happened yesterday...so here we go, I'll try and condense. In the morning I was kind of noticing the baby wasnt moving as much, I decided to wait until lunch and see if he would get moving after I ate...this didnt turn out to be as successful as I would have liked. So I called my nurse, who's ONLY advice was to go straight to the hospital. I was a little hesitant so I called Labor and Delivery who said the exact same thing "If you're concerned enough to call the doctor you probably ought to come in". So after another uneventful kick count...I left. When I got to L & D, they offered me a wheelchair and admitted me! I thought I would go in and they would take a look on the sono...but no I had a room, a bed, a gown, a phone...the works. Now the embarassing part...they hooked me up to the monitor and no sooner had they velcroed the straps, he decided to do a 20 minute long dance routine inside my uterus. He even got hiccups so there was a registered movement almost every second! After the nurse reassured me I had done the right thing they let me get dressed and sent me on my way (no wheelchair offered this time). I guess he got a good laugh out of that one...what he doesnt know is I've already grounded him for life.

You did the right thing...for sure! What if he hadn't started dancing away? It is silly, though, that they didn't just give you a sono, but I guess it is a precaution in case they found something wrong. Who knows? Still..you did the right thing.

Wow I came so close to being in that situation many times when I was pregnant with Spencer. I would keep telling my self "ok if he does not kick in the next hour I am going to the hospital or something like that. Luckily he would eventually kick. I think those boys are lazy and they also are already causing their mom stress even before they get out of the womb. I am glad it all turned out ok.

Hey Holly- Good to hear from you. It looks like your doing good. Math class was fun my little sister has him as a math teacher and he still remembers the three of us. Good times.

Wow! That's crazy- but I definitely don't think it is embarassing. You did great Holly!
