Calling all Domestic Goddesses..

So the weather is getting warmer as we all know and love. Last night I woke up dripping in sweat, because I have not taken the down comforter off of my bed. I have a nice Coverlet that I normally dress my bed with in the summer months but when I washed it before I was putting it away for the winter, I washed it with a pair of pants that Kimball had thrown into the dirty clothes with an entire pack of gum in the pockets. Yes I know mom I should have checked the pockets before I put them in...Anyway it's a nice coverlet so I dont want to give up all hope that it's salvageable...bottomline...does anyone out there know the trick to getting gum off of clothes/bedding? Help!!

Oh Hol I'm sorry you had to learn that lesson at the expense of a nice coverlet. (Always take the time to check pockets and sort so you know what you're putting in there!!)
I've heard that putting ice on the gum, letting it freeze, and then scraping it off with a sharp knife works. I tried it when i made the same mistake. It worked pretty good except there were too many little pieces of gum!! I couldn't ever get them all.
I can't wait till next week when you get here. We'll have sooooo much fun! Love ya all

So I have heard that if you microwave baby wipes and then put them on the gum, it will make the gum just peel off. I also know that peanut butter takes gum out of hair, but I don't if that works for fabric.

Yeah I would try putting the whole coverlet in the freezer and then peeling it off, you will have to keep putting it back into the freezer when the gums gets room temp. though. LOL

I heard that lamp oil works really well. You know the kind for the old fashioned oil lamps. You just have to wash it a few times afterwords to get the smell out.

Hot vinegar and a toothbrush work. Goof Off works. I'd do the vinegar first. On some items WD40 works but you have to wash your stuff fast to get the oil out. I prefer vinegar. It's a wonder cleaner.

I'm sharing the common complaint that the color of your type on your blog is unreadable. :)
