Weekend with the girls!

This past weekend I was lucky enough to have my mom, sister, and her daughter Riley come to visit. The day they were supposed to get here I got a wonderful surprise when I saw my grandma (mom's mom) had come too!! I was so excited. It was so much fun. We swam in the backyard almost every day, went shopping, played games, did a little sewing (didnt quite turn out, but still fun, the quote of the week in the upper lefthand corner of my blog pretty much sums it up), made mobiles for the babies, and ate tons of yummy food (my grandma was always asking if she could make a dessert to go along with dinner!).It was weird to think that the next time I see my sister she and I will both have new babies! It was sad and very quiet at the house when they left (Mya kept saying "RILEY!!, RILEY!!), but I'm just glad that they were able to all come and visit.

Seeing MORE spots and a walk on the wild side!

Well I must have gone through a serious nesting phase or something cause I worked my swollen fingers to the bone getting these rooms done. Its probably a manifestation of some of my compulsive tendencies, but once I started I wanted everything done. They've been done for a couple weeks, but now there clean so I snapped some pictures to share.

Mya's room turned out very girlie!!

We got her a little table to read books and color on, she's still figuring it out.

This is probably Mya's favorite part, she has a felt board, a chalk board, and place to put up her little papers that she does in nursery and pictures of her friends and cousins. This part needs a little supervision but she really enjoys playing.

This is the nursery not much to say other than I'm really happy with the way it turned out. All it needs now is a tiny baby Tarzan...

Pictures I Meant to Post along the way...

Well I wouldn't be honest if I made it seem like our life out here in Texas didn't come with its ups AND downs. It's easy to post about all the cute, funny, interesting, uplifting, etc. things, but I've found that it's hard to find them when you aren't having such a good day, week, month... Anyway what I'm getting at is I've had a rough couple of weeks what with getting into the uncomfortable state of pregnancy, Kimball being very stressed due to his looming board exams, and missing friends and family back in Utah, that I've taken pictures that I intended to post as the days went by but never did. It's been my experience out here that some days are just like that sometimes, you may even have a couple of them in a row, and most of the time it helps to just take pleasure in the small things that happen each day that make you smile...I've taken pictures of a few of these things, I hope you enjoy them...feel free to comment on your favorite one and throw in some advice on how to deal with bad days while your at it!

Mya and Kirby watching "Jungle Book" together, a favorite for both of them.

Kimball finally got a propane grill! Now he wants to cook out every day, a welcome break for me!

Our friend Bradley came to play and as usual digs the high heels out of the bottom of the toy box and insists on wearing them until he goes home...

I snuck up on Mya while she was watching a movie, and I couldn't get over the serious look on her face or the finger on her chin as if she was watching something deeply moving.

Kimball and I were in the kitchen talking and stopped to notice Mya had climbed up on the recliner and started reading a book to herself...she would jibber jabber in her own language then turn the page, all the way until the end of the story.

If only we could all learn to stop and smell the roses sometimes....

Adventures in Labor and Delivery

Well if this is going to be my "journal" I guess it would be a good idea to share an embarassing story that happened yesterday...so here we go, I'll try and condense. In the morning I was kind of noticing the baby wasnt moving as much, I decided to wait until lunch and see if he would get moving after I ate...this didnt turn out to be as successful as I would have liked. So I called my nurse, who's ONLY advice was to go straight to the hospital. I was a little hesitant so I called Labor and Delivery who said the exact same thing "If you're concerned enough to call the doctor you probably ought to come in". So after another uneventful kick count...I left. When I got to L & D, they offered me a wheelchair and admitted me! I thought I would go in and they would take a look on the sono...but no I had a room, a bed, a gown, a phone...the works. Now the embarassing part...they hooked me up to the monitor and no sooner had they velcroed the straps, he decided to do a 20 minute long dance routine inside my uterus. He even got hiccups so there was a registered movement almost every second! After the nurse reassured me I had done the right thing they let me get dressed and sent me on my way (no wheelchair offered this time). I guess he got a good laugh out of that one...what he doesnt know is I've already grounded him for life.
