Our Family

No real story behind this post...I just had to scan this photo into my computer to email it to my mother-in-law, and wanted to post it here. Kimball and I celebrated three years of wedded bliss yesterday =)...can't wait to see what the next three will bring. I'm so lucky to have my family.

Family Home Evening: Jaguars vs. Cougars

Go Mountain Lions!

The day before yesterday was Family Home Evening and since Mya and I have season passes to the zoo Kimball decided to go as a family. We didnt have enough time to see everything so we decided to take the train to the Texas Wild part of the zoo that has animals that are native to Texas. We saw Longhorns, horses, cows, (are you yawning yet) and Mya got to pet some goats and a giant black pig. We did however see the Mountain Lions/Cougars (Kimball's mascot) and Jaguars (my mascot) and I wondered who would win if they ever got to share cages for a day...if the metaphor stays true, I'm pretty sure it would be the Jaguar. Anyway, we stopped for a sandwich and ice cream, and did a spiritual thought at home. It was a lot of fun just to be together for awhile. I hope we can keep up with this every week.

Seeing Spots...

Since the crib won't fit out the door without being taken apart and "Big Girl" bed won't fit out the door without being taken apart, we had to make a switch and move Mya to a whole new room. I actually am glad it turned out this way because now instead of having to decorate one room I get to do Two! So the idea for Mya's Room is everything Polka Dots...bedding, furniture, curtains, and even the walls! Here are a couple of pictures to give you an idea of how its coming along. Disclaimer: All dots were painted free hand with a small foam brush...yeah it took awhile.

Look what the mail man brought!!!

We've decided to do the new nursery with safari stuff and I saw this 5' stuffed giraffe in the potterybarn kids catalog, it was so cute and would tie in perfectly with the room. This giraffe was $695.00. Apparently they stuffed it with cash and sewed it with gold thread. Well I was lucky enough to find one online that was stuffed with plain cotton and sewn with regular thread but is every bit as cute and just as tall, and he just arrived. Mya was awestruck...he's almost as tall as mommy!

New Potty for Mya

A couple of days ago we bought Mya her first potty in hopes that a miracle would happen and she would learn how to use it before the baby gets here. That way I won't have to blow any chance of my children going to college on diapers. Well the picture does most of the talking, when it comes to explaining what she decided to do with her new commode. She's definitely her father's child.

Sweeney Todd

Host unlimited photos at slide.com for FREE!

We just rented Sweeney Todd-The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and I absolutely LOVED it. Probably not for everyone like those of you who dont like gore and/or musicals...two things that dont generally go together. Kimball even enjoyed so much that he was listening to the soundtrack all day. For a little taste you can go to my playlist above and listen to "Johanna" written by Stephen Sondheim who wrote the musical. I love love loved it, it made me want to go back to my theater days....

Sisters

Two Rockers by Charlotte A. Lanham

My sister has two rockers.
She lives in Tennesee
And when I go to visit her
We rock and sip on tea.

The color of her rockers?
A dusty shade of blue.
They're on the porch, beside the door
Where all the folks walk through.

At times we both drink Passionfruit.
At times we sip Earl Grey,
As on the porch we rock and watch
The seasons pass away.

We've talked about our children
We've laughed and cried together
We've sat with sun upon our laps
We've rocked in rainy weather.

Dear Lord, please save FOUR rockers
On the porch called "Glorious Day."
Make hers Eternal Passionfruit.
Make mine the King's Earl Grey.

In It Together

So when Kimball and I found out we were pregnant with our second baby we were so happy, but when my sister and I found out we weren't only both pregnant, but had the same due date it was the cherry on top. I'm so glad I have my best friend to call and complain to cause I know she feels my pain...literally. Love ya sis

Miracle Flowers

A little while back my mom and dad came to visit us, and so to prove that I was an awesome mom/homemaker I planted some annuals in our flower beds. The next day, a weather phenomenon occured and we got a good five inches of snow...In TEXAS!! Texans all over were thinking it was the end of the world, while I was just mad that the one day I plant flowers it snows...in TEXAS! Anyway, after much thought and prayer (I am mormon after all) we got an Easter Miracle and the flowers all made it through! My sister would be proud!

The Knackstedt's New Blog Debut

My beautiful sister recently started a blog for her family, and since imitation is the most sincere form of flattery it would only be fitting for ours to shortly follow. So here it is, our new blog....or as my grandmother sweetly suggested "You ought to create one of those BLOBS on the internet". The way I see it, if other people dont like to come and read a whole bunch of stuff we've written about ourselves (as my other beautiful sister put it), then at least I can use it as evidence to justify some of my crazy ways, cause inevitably I just know my children will want explanations down the road some day! Readers Beware....an open mind and a light heart is necessary...Enjoy!
