All My Bags Are Packed I'm Ready To Go....

The weather forecast for today was up into the 100's again with 38% humidity...it's supposed to get hotter as the weekend approaches. It seems to me they ought to give mother's who have reached full term in these conditions the option of induction as sort of a mercy rule. Last week it literally felt like I had run out of fuel, this week I have felt more and more each day I'm running off some sort of miracle fuel the Lord has saved and let me borrow to get through these last couple of weeks. I have continued to stay active, especially with Mya who craves my attention and wants to go and play. We bought her a trampoline the other day, but still hasn't figured it out. Those of you who know me know I don't do well with the unknown, I have anxiety about loose ends, and am comfortable when everything is in its place (thanks mom..just kidding). So as a good omen, I have packed my bags, and I've gotten everything in order for the baby to come home. I thought it might be fun to see what everyone else packs when they go to have their babies and maybe get some good ideas...so far I have comfy pj's I found on clearance at Target, Going home outfit for the baby and I, miniature toiletries (Target), laptop, Ipod, Sudoku book, the book I'm trying to finish before Breaking Dawn, two-player games for Kimball and I, Martha Stewart Living, movies (Family Stone, Dan in Real Life, Harry Potter 1-5, Moulin Rouge, Grey's Anatomy season 1), favorite snacks, camera, extra batteries, socks, and my pillow. I think now all I have left to do is keep praying...

I'm of no use when it comes to packing for labor but I'll bid you good luck and I hope Little-Boy-Knackstedt gives in soon for your sake.

Holy Crap you packed a lot. I just took clothes, snacks and baby stuff. I didn't need much entertainment, my room had a tv with cable and we had so many visitors that the time seemed to pass. But we did take in our own pillows and a yoga ball (the orientation said it helped with the pain, yeah right.) I liked having my own pillow, but after I got just a little pain meds, they wouldn't let me out of the bed and after I gave birth you couldn't have paid me enought money to spread my legs and sit on that darn ball.

But if you do forget anything, call me, I know exactly how to get there.

I have no suggestions or advice for your packing situation. Sorry! But best of luck to you and Baby K.- hope he gets here soon!

I agree with Katy... you did pack a bunch of stuff. With haylee she was 3 weeks early and I didn't have a bag or ANYTHING ready! But I would take jammies, personal getting ready things and baby clothes and blankets. I liked having my own blanket to wrap her in. And my own pillow for sure. GOod Luck... Im sure it will happen soon!

hey girl... ditch the electronics. you'll never get to them and just worry constantly that something will be dropped or stolen. There's too many people coming in and out (friends and strangers wanting your blood!!!) and you'll be too exhausted to even watch tv before you fall asleep. Eat up the quiet and built in sitters (nursery)before you go home because that will be a fleeting luxury!! oh, and don't wear anything you can't stand to have ruined!

I was too exhausted to use half of what I packed. The only thing I actually used were my pajamas, toiletries, and baby clothes. Maybe if you are unprepared the baby will come sooner. I was doing really good keeping my house clean so as soon as Tyler came I would be prepared and the one night I had dirty dishes in my sink I went into labor. It's totally out of your nature to be unprepared and you may not be able to stand it, but give it a whirl. Unpack your bag and let your house get messy . . . the baby will come just to spite you.

Well, I'm not packed (won't take long) but I have blocked out the next 3 weeks at work so I can come as soon as you call. (That puts everyone else on notice that no one is going anywhere except me.) I can hardly wait to come and stay with Mya and meet Aiden. Dump everything except your clothes, baby stuff, a book and a puzzle. Forget it. You won't even have time for the book or puzzles so dump them too. How long are you staying anyway? You'll be so involved with labor you won't have time to read and then when the baby comes--all you will want is to sleep and hold him. Now don't panic! Your ma-in-law is not moving in. I'm just covering my bases making sure everyone is aware that I could be gone in a flash and I want to be available until your mom can get here. I'm very excited! What a great way to end the summer.

Oh Holly you will be in my thoughts and prayers! I hope that little guy comes soon for your sake. :o) Ummm...I don't really remember what I packed. Although someone mentioned one of those exercise/yoga balls. Seriously, that was so awesome to have when I was in labor with Shailey (the 2nd and 3rd labors were WAY too short to take advantage of it though). It was so nice to sit on it and have someone massage my back while I rested my head on a pillow. And I guess it's supposed to help you dialate faster. Have you checked with the hospital? They might have one you can use (my hospital called it a "birth ball"...nice huh?)

I will just tell you what I brought. Before hand I made sure the infant seat was in the car and I knew how to adjust the straps.

I packed chapstick, 2 night gowns that open at the bottom & are easy to nurse in. 2 Nursing bras (in case I leaked milk (with Spencer I did cause we were there for 7 days. 2 or 3 outfits for baby, book or magizine (although I really did not get much time to read (even when I was there 7days cause I was so tired all the time) tolietries, clothes for you to go home in, & blanket for the baby, my pillow and I think that is it.

Well, I've never had to pack a bag like this before, so I don't have any advice about what I would pack. But Holy Cow, I can't believe everything you packed. I think I am going to write your list down so I can remember it when I actually do have to pack one of these bags.
Good luck! I hope little knackstedt is good to you and that you have him soon!
